ARTICLE - SHRINKAGE REDUCTION

How the use of Concept Pro PVM's aids the reduction of shrinkage in retail environments and contributes to the decrease in crime, along side increasing opportunity for placement of branding and marketing.

What is shrinkage reduction?

Shrinkage reduction refers to the efforts and strategies employed by businesses to minimise or reduce the amount of inventory shrinkage within their operations. Inventory shrinkage, often simply referred to as "shrink," is the loss of inventory due to various factors, such as theft, damaged goods, administrative errors, or even inventory that becomes obsolete.

Why is shrinkage reduction important to retailers?

Retailers are reporting significant increases in shoplifting. The British Retail Consortium (BRC) said retail thefts across the sector in England and Wales rose by 26% in 2022 with almost 33,000 incidents in shoplifting reported in one month alone. With this in mind it is critical for retailers to take a broad approach to tackle the rise in shrinkage with security systems vital to supporting their anti crime efforts. The high levels of theft across the UK are costing retailers almost £1bn a year.

How to optimise shrinkage reduction

Supermarkets are increasingly opting for Public View Monitors as part of their self service checkout systems. Whilst self service checkouts have helped reduce operating costs for retailers they have also provided an opportunity for criminal activity and have increased the amount of shrinkage supermarkets have to deal with.

The Concept Pro 10” Public Viewing Monitor is a proven solution to support the efforts in reducing shrinkage at self service checkouts. Installed in retailers across the country the monitor provides a visual deterrent to show would-be criminals they are being recorded and are a critical weapon in a supermarkets arsenal to tackle theft.
